"Composing generative AI (GAI) art is my “next hill.” I started with cut-and-paste collage over fifty years ago. Then there was photography, succeeded by Photoshop editing, music videos, mixed media substrates and overstrates that included distressed metal and fused glass. My development as a visual artist was influenced by being an active participant in the Digital Art Guild (now dissolved), the PhotoArtsGroup and the San Diego Photoshop Users Group. Having the opportunity to co-author Going Digital: The Practice and Vision of Digital Artists was important to integrating my understandings about art generally and digital art specifically. These are the important shoulders that I have stood on. The next hill, GAI art, has been more of a solo adventure, but, of course, with meaningful conversations with those using different platforms and being several months ahead of where I was. This next hill is a fast one and profits by having different entry points. I have used DALLE 2 and DALLE 3, Photoshop, Stable Diffusion, FreedomGPT’s Medusa, Google Labs and Deep Dream Generator. "
